FSD Beta and Optimus Bot Updates

Tesla AI Day 2022 is fast approaching. As the event builds up, let’s take a look at possible updates Tesla could provide during the event.

For about a month, Tesla has been rolling out FSD Beta 10.69 and its various iterations. Teslarati chatted with FSD beta testers and chronicled their thoughts on v10.69 over the past few weeks. Tesla may provide more information about the FSD beta and its planned release to the public on AI Day 2022.

Optimus has been in the works for almost a year. The Tesla bot was unveiled at AI Day last year. Everyone expects Tesla to unveil the long-awaited Optimus prototype on the upcoming AI Day 2022.

FSD Beta Updates

Tesla plans to roll out FSD beta after AI Day 2022. Currently, beta testers are testing Most Tesla drivers who spoke to Teslarati reported issues with lane selection, turns, turn signals and speed limit signs.

Beta tester Frank summed up the experiences of all the pilots in the program well.

“In my experience, there are [sic] was both a step forward and a step back. The latest version is much better than the previous one, but has some [issues]“, Frank noted.

“I would say that the general comments I read in your [Teslarati] articles would reflect my experience. Without a doubt, drive with caution. There has been progress on this complex issue,” he added.

When invited only Goldman Sachs tech conference, Tesla’s senior director of investor relations Martin Viecha said Tesla’s plans for full-scale release of Full Self Driving remain on track.

Earlier this year, Elon Musk predicted the FSD could be distributed to qualified vehicles by the end of 2022. At this month’s tech conference, Viecha explained that Tesla may release a “supervised” FSD of end of the year.

Current FSD beta testers believe that Tesla’s self-driving software has improved significantly since the release of v10.69. However, many also believe that Tesla still needs to be careful about releasing FSD to more drivers.

“For Tesla, keep working, but don’t be as optimistic as you are. If you don’t have to step in [sic]you don’t drive on my roads,” an FSD beta tester commented.

Robot Tesla [Optimus]

In early 2022, Elon Musk said Tesla’s humanoid robot, nicknamed Optimus, was a top priority for the company.

“So in terms of product priority, I think the most important product development we’re doing this year is actually the Optimus humanoid robot. I think that has the potential to be bigger than the automotive business. over time,” Musk said.

“If you think about the economy, it’s because the foundation of the economy is work. Capital equipment is distilled labor. So what if you don’t actually have a labor shortage? I’m not sure what a saving means even then. That’s what Optimus is. So very important,” he explained.

In May 2022, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla would provide a preview of the Tesla Bot. The AI Day 2022 teaser poster hints that Tesla is still planning to reveal some interesting information about Optimus.

Hopefully Tesla provides more details on the production of the humanoid robot and its potential market release date. During Musk’s TED appearance in April, he predicted that Optimus would cost less than a car once Tesla ramps up production.

Tesla AI Day 2022 is a recruitment event similar to last year. The company is also expected to talk about its Dojo AI supercomputer, as well as its next-generation in-house computer, Hardware 4, which is set to debut with the Cybertruck.
