DUBAIWATER, October 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — HUAWEI CONNECT 2022, themed “Unleash Digital”, kicks off in dubai today. Industry leaders, experts, partners and guests of the Middle East and Africa come together to share their thoughts on technology innovation, ecosystem collaboration and digital transformation. Ken Hurotating chairman of Huawei, delivered a keynote speech under the conference theme and called on enterprises to “embrace the cloud for leapfrog development” for digital transformation. Joy HuangPresident of Huawei Cloud Computing Strategy & Industry Development, delivered a speech titled “Unleash Digital with Everything as a Service”.
Huang said greener infrastructure, continuous innovation and shared experience are the paths to digital transformation.
Huawei Cloud marks its presence with innovations in native technologies. During this event, three cloud native products are launched in the world: CCE Turbo for the container engine and UCS for the ubiquitous cloud native. CCE Turbo accelerates computing, networking, and scheduling to achieve ultimate scalability. For example, it helps Sina Weibo cope with traffic spikes easily by scaling 3,000 pods in just one minute. UCS enables users to manage cloud-native applications across multiple clouds and regions with a consistent experience. GuassDB has been redesigned to be serverless, and now you can scale your GaussDB automatically in seconds. This is part of our Backend as a Service plan.
Many enterprise applications need to process hybrid queries. For example, a financial application may need to process loans and also analyze transaction data.
To unlock the true potential of AI, Huawei Cloud focuses on three core AI technologies: core models, solvers, and knowledge computing. Huawei Cloud worked with partners to develop the Pangu NLP model for the Arabic language which supports hundreds of billions of parameters. The accuracy of semantic understanding reached 95%. The OptVerse AI Solver combines operations research and AI, improving solution speed by 100x and modeling efficiency by 30x. Enhanced Knowledge Computing offers a faster path to combine industry insights with AI, and integrates knowledge acquisition, modeling, management and application in one place, dramatically improving the efficiency of using AI.
Application modernization is a must for digitization. To facilitate this process, Huawei Cloud launches four pipelines for software development, data governance, AI development and digital content production. Huawei Cloud also dives deep into digital technologies and transforms them into aPaaS services for customers. During this event, two new main aPaaS services are launched: KooMessage and KooSearch.
As a constant innovator, Huawei Cloud hopes to support the growth of its customer base through advanced technologies.
Unleash digital productivity and embrace the cloud
During the Huawei Cloud TechWave Summit held on the same day, Jacqueline ChiPresident of the Marketing and Sales Department of Huawei Cloud, delivered a keynote address. She pointed out that the key to unleashing digital is to embrace the cloud, and cloud native is the way to achieve digital transformation.
Jacqueline Shi, President of Global Marketing and Sales Department, Huawei Cloud
Following the “Everything as a service” strategy, Huawei Cloud creates comprehensive cloud-native services spanning infrastructure-as-a-service, technology-as-a-service, and expertise-as-a-service. Huawei Cloud shares localization experience gained through global services, as well as business and industry information in major regions, all of which are advanced technologies and solutions to serve more customers across a wider range of industries. “The key to getting the most out of the cloud is to think cloud native, act cloud native. Cloud native paves the way for agile, modern applications.” said Jacqueline. For better local support, Huawei Cloud has built 70 AZs in 27 regions around the world and deployed 92 cloud services in the Middle East. Huawei Cloud launches new Regions in Saudi Arabia and Egyptanother effort from Huawei Cloud to expand its global network and supply customers in the Middle East and Africa with more secure, stable and low-latency networks.

Boost productivity with digital technologies
Human society is becoming digital and intelligent, presenting both challenges and opportunities. Frank DaiPresident of Huawei Cloud Middle Eastgave a keynote address entitled “Inspire Innovation with Everything as a Service”, introducing Huawei cloud approach to help customers in Middle East get the most out of the cloud, improve digital resilience and go further in digital transformation.
Frank Dai, President of Huawei Cloud Middle East
The cloud offers efficiency, convenience and scalability, which is very beneficial for the digital transformation of businesses. Frank said that the countries of the Middle East have realized the value of the cloud for the digital economy. Building a digital infrastructure is essentially about getting the most out of the cloud. The cloud used to mean elastic computing resources for enterprises, which primarily used IaaS services. Now, cloud capabilities extend to emerging areas such as AI, application development, and big data, with built-in developer tools and consulting services available when needed. Huawei has gone from helping you “migrate to a good cloud” to “getting the most out of the cloud”.
The local ecosystem is an indispensable force for digital transformation. According to Mr. Dai, in the Middle East, Huawei Cloud will work with stakeholders to develop the local digital ecosystem in three aspects, including building industry-specific digital capacities, cultivating digital talents and supporting SMEs.
Dr. Tian Qi, Academician of the International Academy of Eurasian Sciences, IEEE Fellow and Chief Scientist of AI Huawei Cloudintroduced Huawei cloud innovations in business intelligence (BI) services and describes the value and potential of AI for scientific research, production and everyday life. Dr. Tian said, “AI for science not only brings technological breakthroughs, but a total change in scientific research methods. This will help scientists overcome bottlenecks and bridge the technical gap.

Full-stack architecture innovation and ubiquitous native cloud
Cloud native is becoming the preferred choice for businesses to migrate to the cloud, previously by internet companies and now by businesses in traditional industries. Cloud native is ready for full fledged development.
William Dong, President of Huawei Cloud Marketing
William Dong, president of Huawei Cloud Marketing, pointed out that in the future, applications, data, AI models and digital content will become the main assets of a digital and intelligent enterprise. Businesses will develop, run, and manage these resources in a converged pipeline, and cloud native will be the technology that helps businesses overcome uncertainty.
Based on its own technical and practical innovations, Huawei Cloud believes that companies are not just migrating to the cloud, but also relying on the cloud. Therefore, cloud native covers not only microservices, Kubernetes, and containers, but also big data, AI, and media services. It’s called Cloud Native 2.0. Huawei Cloud provides a complete cloud-native solution with state-of-the-art features.
Mr. Dong said that Huawei Cloud will dive deeper into cloud native and remain open to enrich its portfolio of cloud native services. Huawei Cloud not only provides a high-performance, stable and reliable cloud-native infrastructure, but also provides easy-to-use and easily accessible tools and pipelines for application development, AI, big data and digital content production during the digital transformation. Huawei Cloud plays an active role in open source for cloud native development. In 2015, Huawei became the sole founding member of the CNCF of Asia. Huawei continues to contribute to the community, ranking #1 in Asia and No. 6 in the world by committed code.
To extend cloud native wherever customers run their services, Huawei Cloud, with its global layout and software-hardware synergy, overcomes geographic restrictions, eliminates differences between underlying computing resources, and makes it easier for customers to deploy and manage global services. Cloud native is the way Huawei Cloud takes to achieve everything as a service.
At the event, Huawei Cloud released the Cloud Native 2.0 Architecture White Paper, which aims to enable on-premises customers with full cloud-native capabilities to leapfrog into the future.
